Ford Bronco. 1980–96 (prod. n/a). 3-door SUV. F/A, 4098, 4917 cm³ (I6 OHV), 4942, 5766 cm³ (V8 OHV). Bronco shifts to new-generation F-series truck base, shorter, lighter (by 375 lb) and more efficient. Two different 5·8 V8s offered during run, with the same capacity (351M and Windsor). Four-speed manual, or three- or four-speed automatic available. Independent front suspension improved ride, leaf springs at rear. Eddie Bauer trim package from 1985. Also assembled in Australia with Australian engines, sold till 1987. Facelifts for 1987 with new interior and rear-wheel ABS as standard, and 1992 with revised interior and all-wheel ABS. Last facelift also brought a front crumple zone into the frame. Six-cylinder withdrawn for 1994. Ford Expedition (UN93) filled the niche of an F-series-based SUV after 1996, and the Bronco was not seen again till the 2021 model year.
