Fiat 124 Spider/Abarth 124 Spider. 2016–20 (prod. 40,000 approx.). 2-door convertible. F/R, 1368 cm³ (I4 DOHC). Fiat plays on retro again after its Fiat 500 (2007–), with a convertible inspired by Fiat 124 Sport Spider and a very similar name. Sister car to Mazda Roadster (ND), but with Fiat engine (related to that in Abarth 595) and manual transmission; automatic available. Different sheetmetal, making it longer, wider and lower; though hood identical. Chassis largely the same, with double-wishbone front, and multi-link rear suspension. Central screen and dashboard layout identical. Abarth version, from 2018, more potent, with better ride and composure, lower ride height, anti-roll bars, Bilstein shocks, and limited-slip differential, among other changes.
