The Eldorado nameplate first emerged as a model in the Series 62 line in 1953, and remained in various Cadillac series through to the 1960s. An advanced personal-luxury car when launched in 1967, it fell victim to the malaise era quickly, turning into a land yacht in its next generation, and forced to slim down for the one after. It hung in there into 2002 when SUVs became all the rage in the US.
