BYD Yuan Up. 2024 to date (prod. 90,000 sold to August 2024). 5-door SUV. F/F, 32, 45·12 kWh electric. Yuan bulks up, but remains in the B-segment, with only a slight increase in price over the Plus. Very popular at launch, with nicely designed interior, if not that well equipped, and reasonable build quality. Floating roof design, still appearing reasonably current. Some clever details (e.g. the air conditioner reduces its volume during a phone call for quality reasons). Acceleration best described as mediocre, not unexpected for a cheaply priced EV; chassis not that well tuned, with bumps felt in the cabin. High power consumption, falling short of its claimed range (301–401 km). Wind and tyre noise reasonable until one reaches higher speeds.
