BYD Yuan. 2015 to date (prod. n/a). 5-door SUV. F/F, F/R/A, 1497 cm³ petrol, 1497 cm³ electric–petrol hybrid (I4 DOHC), 38·9, 42, 50·1, 53·2 kWh electric. Dynamic-looking compact crossover with “floating” roof appearance and side-open tailgate. Well styled interior, if materials a little basic. Not the roomiest in its class. Manual a five-speeder only, suited only to urban use. EV360 electric model from 2019 with only 70 kW on tap, with a maximum torque of 180 Nm, and a 305 km range. EV535 electric model took power up to 120 kW and torque to 280 Nm, with a 410 km range, but was still beaten by its rival, the Beijing EX3, on all counts. Facelifted Pro from 2021, with electric powertrains only (38·9 and 50·1 kWh).
