Pioneering hatchback with transverse engine and front-wheel drive. Front disc brakes, rack-and-pinion steering. The 1100 Special had the larger 1·2 (from 1970) and 1·3 (from 1972) units; 1·3 TI from 1974. Called 1200 in Spain from 1975, and when [[Peugeot]] took over [[Chrysler]]’s European operations, the [[Talbot]] brand was used from 1979. Noisy, but with the larger engines, quick. Formed the basis of the [[Matra–Simca Rancho]] as well as the 1100’s successor.
