Ford ZX2. 2001–3 (prod. n/a). 2-door coupé. F/F, 1988 cm³ (I4 DOHC). Rebodied Ford Laser (1989–94) for North American market, with unique coupé bodystyle. Originally called Escort ZX2, it survived the cancellation of American Escort sedans after the 2000 model year. Escort moniker disappeared for 2001. Typical Mazda Familia (BG)-based engineering; Ford Zetec DOHC engine delivered good power. Refinement poor, when compared with sedans.
