Also known as Great Wall for export, Changcheng (長城/长城) was originally a bus and truck manufacturer which introduced a crossover, the Hover, in 2004 at the Beijing show, a clone of the [[Isuzu Axiom]] but with a [[Toyota]] chassis and [[Mitsubishi]] engine. Two years later, it showed a series of passenger cars, developed with the assistance of TJ Innova as well as the foreign models that “inspired” them. The Jingling (Peri) began production in 2007, taking ideas from the second-generation [[Fiat Panda]], so much so that Fiat sued. Changcheng eventually spun off its Hover line into a successful SUV marque, [[Haval]]. A premium SUV brand, [[Wey]], followed in the 2020s.
