Austin Mini Mk II. 1967–70 (prod. 153,900 saloon, 23,500 Traveller, 7,225 Cooper, 3,640 Cooper S). 2-door saloon, 2-door estate (plus two rear doors). F/F, 848, 998, 1275 cm³ (I4 OHV). Mk II follow-up to Alec Issigonis’s Mini saw some improvements, e.g. new front grille, larger rear window and new rear lights. Cooper received an all-synchromesh gearbox for 1968. Still no wind-up windows in UK—that was left till Mk III, though Australian Morris Minis have had them since 1964 and South African models since 1967. Not hugely changed—still uncomfortable in terms of driving position but a largely inspired handler. Sold in virtually identical form as Morris Mini Mk II. Cooper S offered to 1970.
