Audi A3 (8Y). 2020 to date (prod. n/a). 4- and 5-door saloon. F/F, F/A, 1498 cm³ petrol, 1968 cm³ diesel (I4 DOHC). Still resting on the MQB platform, fourth-generation A3 kept its predecessor’s wheelbase, but had gains in length, width and height, in a similar move forward to its sister car, the Volkswagen Golf VIII. No increase in luggage space, and headroom increased by 2 cm thanks to the driver’s seat position changing, but some of the 2 cm gain in width was down to the blisters sculpted into the sides, meant to recall the original Audi Quattro. Drag coefficient down to a commendable 0,25, and plenty of high-tech equipment typically reserved for classes above. Fully digital cockpit; mild-hybrid drivetrains; swarm intelligence to warn of hazards in the immediate area; onboard wifi hotspot.
