From AutocadeMini (Mk III). 1969–76 (prod. unknown). 2-door saloon, 3-door estate. F/F, 848, 998, 1275 cm³ (4 cyl. OHV). British Leyland turned Mini into its own marque in 1969 with Mk III, with new ADO20 internal code. Much the same as before, considering Issigonis’s 9X replacement did not enter production. Availability of 848 and 998 cm³ engines, with Clubman and 1275 GT models at top of range (see separate entries). Cheap, good handling small car but noisy and uncomfortable driving position. Wind-up windows for the first time. Spanish model made by Authi from October 1970, with 1275 GT model featuring original front end and a Mini Cooper was offered from 1973 to 1975. Many other variations continued: South African models had Riley tail; Australian Leyland Mini had Clubman grille; Innocentis different again.
Marque: Mini | Predecessors: Austin Mini Mk II, Morris Mini Mk II | Successor: Mini (Mk IV)
