Nissan Pintara (R31)
From AutocadeNissan Pintara (R31). 1986–9 (prod. n/a). 4-door sedan, 5-door wagon. F/R, 1974 cm³ (I4 OHC). Cheaper, four-cylinder version of Nissan Skyline (R31) for Australian market, conceived to fight Mitsubishi Magna (1985–91). Successful for Nissan, as Pintara gave a big-car image for a low price, and along with six-cylinder Skyline, challenged the other domestic manufacturers well. Marketed as having been conceived for Australian conditions and, in that respect, was unique to the country.
