Downmarket version of Nissan Skyline (R31) initially, giving Nissan Australia a car to fight both the traditional large cars there as well as the Mitsubishi Magna (1985–91). Its replacement, based around the Nissan Bluebird (U12), was never as successful, and Nissan soon ended local manufacture in Australia.
