Latest revision as of 08:29, 26 February 2024Pontiac Tempest. 1968–70 (prod. n/a). 4-door sedan, 4-door hardtop sedan, 2-door coupé, 2-door hardtop coupé, 2-door convertible, 5-door wagon. F/R, 250 in³ (I6 OHV), 250 in³ (I6 OHC), 350, 400 in³ (V8 OHV). Pontiac’s base intermediate line gets a redesign for 1968. Similar formula to before. Better handling than Chevrolet Chevelle (1968–72), but average quality and reliability. T-37 hardtop coupé introduced 1970, GM’s lowest-priced hardtop coupé available in the US; the regular two-door soon followed, and both could be optioned as a GT-37, effectively a stripped-down GTO. Other shuffles in the final model year included the departure of the Tempest Custom (it became the Custom S for 1969, then the base LeMans, while the LeMans became the LeMans Sport). Pontiac OHC six replaced by Chevrolet OHV six.
Marque: Pontiac | Model: Pontiac Tempest | Predecessor: Pontiac Tempest (1964–7) | Successors: Pontiac Custom S, Pontiac T-37
