Marque used by Ford of Canada as a low- and mid-priced model. Usually an amalgam of Ford and Mercury, and unique to Canada. Sold between 1949 and 1968, with gaps between the 1961 and 1963 model years. The earlier models were Ford-based, with Mercury bits; after 1963, they were based on US Mercurys and took the market positioning of the old Canadian Monarch marque. Meteors were sold until 1976 and considered by the public to be a separate marque, though from the 1969 model year, they carried a Mercury badge.
