Monarch
From AutocadeMarque created by Ford of Canada, for cars sold between 1946 and 1961. In terms of market positioning, Monarch was a mid-priced range, and was initially based on the US Mercury, with some detail changes. For 1953 and 1954, Monarch actually outsold Mercury in Canada. For 1958, the range was ousted to make way for Edsel, but due to that brand’s failure, Monarch was revived for 1959. This time, it lasted through the 1961 model year. With Fords creeping up in to the Monarch’s traditional price range, the line was cancelled. q.v. Meteor
