Revision as of 01:14, 20 December 2014Toyota Camry/Daihatsu Altis/Toyota Aurion (XV50). 2011 to date (prod. n/a). 4-door sedan. F/F, 2494 cm³ petrol, 2494 cm³ petrol–electric hybrid (I4 DOHC), 3456 cm³ (V6 DOHC). Much the same as before, right down to near-identical dimensions (thanks in part to carryover platform), but with improvements under the skin. Externally, more aerodynamic, with Cd of 0,28. Improved interior quality. Lighter than XV40, and slightly firmer suspension. Hybrid far more economical, based on Toyota’s figures, reaching 40 mpg (US). Not the most spirited drive, but exactly what Camry owners expected. A more formal model, with different front and rear ends, débuted in the Ukraine in August 2011, forming the basis of the Australian-made Aurion, an upscale Camry. Badge-engineered Daihatsu Altis continued in Japan, including hybrid model.
