Originally the Chongqing Jialing Chuanjiang Automobile Manufacturing Co., Ltd., part of a Chinese manufacturing group dating back to 1946. The motor division was founded in 1956 as the Chongqing Yuzhou Automobile Manufacturing Company. The company had expertise in powertrains and luxury yachts, before embarking on its first SUV in 2014 for 2015 launch.
