As an older-generation Volkswagen Jetta was on sale in China, the current generation (as sold in the US) was badge-engineered in the Middle Kingdom as the Volkswagen Sagitar. Largely parallel to the European Bora and Jetta, though with the second generation, more sophisticated than the equivalent offered in North America. Sagitar’s more lofty ambitions were realized further with the third generation, which had a longer wheelbase than the Jetta.
