F/R, 1988, 2759 cm³ petrol, 1988 cm³ LPG (I6 OHC), 1988, 2759, 2954 cm³ (I6 DOHC), 1998 cm³ LPG (I4 OHV), 2446 cm³ diesel (I4 OHC). Crown continues formal route, with coupé now deleted. Lower-spec models fell into the class 5 segment, with higher ones in class 3, attracting higher taxation. Geared for comfort, though S package tightened suspension. Crown Athlete tag appeared in this generation, with a front spoiler and S package as standard. Mid-term changes in 1985, mostly cosmetic.
