From AutocadeSaab 99/Saab 90. 1968–87 (prod. 588,643). 2-, 3-, 4- and 5-door saloon. F/F, 1754, 1985 cm³ (I4 OHC). In typically Swedish fashion, the Saab 99 managed to be both rational and interesting at the same time, featuring front-wheel drive and quirky styling by Saab designer Sixten Sason. For a car of its vintage it was technically very advanced, but also a great car to drive. Cabin was a bit on the narrow side for maximum comfort, but that was negated by the commanding view forward and excellent seating. Excellent performance and brakes were a 99 strong point, especially in 99 Turbo form—hatchback version (Combi Coupé) offered later. Revised to become the Saab 90 (essentially a 99 front end, 900 rear end) in 1984, fitting in nicely with the 900 and Saab 9000.
Marque: Saab | Predecessor: Saab 96 | Successor: Saab 900 (1978–93)
