Executive saloon range developed with Honda, with a platform that underpinned the first Honda Legend (HX). Clean, modern design, succeeding large SD1. Initially, the 800 was competitive, but became increasingly less so thanks to a longer life than anticipated. A facelift and the addition of a traditional Rover grille helped, as did a new engine, though by the time of its demise, it was long past its best years.
