Small car from Rover, a development of its earlier 200 from 1995. Also spun off into the MG ZR performance version. Uprated chassis and detail improvements, notably the new nose which was inspired by the larger Rover 75. However, with both BMW (under whom it was developed) and Rover facing financial difficulties, it was never replaced, and by the 2000s it was looking very dated alongside newer competition. Facelifted again in 2004. Among the last of the Rovers built at Longbridge before Nanjing bought everything up.
