1977 Oldsmobile Starfire.jpg

Oldsmobile Starfire. 1975–80 (prod. 125,188). 3-door coupé. F/R, 140, 151 in³ (I4 OHC), 231 in³ (V6 OHV), 305 in³ (V8 OHV). A remarkable come-down for what was once Olds’ top nameplate, now adorning its smallest vehicle since before World War II. Oldsmobile version of the Buick Skyhawk (1975–80), and just as badly made, with corrosion, brake and clutch problems. Poor ride, but reasonable handling. Chevrolet 140 in³ four the worst engine of the lot; Pontiac Iron Duke four the most frugal; V8 optional from 1978 on. Buick V6 offered all years.

Manufacturing locations: Lordstown, Ohio, USA; Sainte-Thérèse, Québec, Canada
