Nissan Cefiro (A31). 1988–94 (prod. n/a). 4-door sedan. F/R, F/A, 1974 cm³ (I4 OHC), 1998, 2428 cm³ (I6 OHC), 1998, 2499 cm³ (I6 DOHC). Arguably a new-generation Laurel, with Nissan finally shaking off its boxy design approach nearly a decade after everyone else. To make up for it, Cefiro was particularly stylish, and showed design innovation had not deserted Nissan. Multi-link suspension; rear- and all-wheel-drive options. Large range of interior customizations, including use of Connolly leather. Mid-term revisions 1990, and 2·5 from 1992. Exported to some markets as Nissan Laurel Altima, with RB20 2·0 or 2·4 in range, or Laurel Cefiro—components were shared between Cefiro, Laurel and Skyline.
