Nissan Auster (T12)
From AutocadeNissan Auster (T12). 1985–90 (prod. n/a). 3-, 4- and 5-door sedan. F/F, 1598, 1809 cm³ (I4 OHC), 1809 cm³ (I4 DOHC). Auster grown to Bluebird bulk, sharing components. Very boxy, still out of step with 1980s’ tastes. Four-door on launch, five-door from 1986. Three-door was sold briefly, but very rare. DOHC turbo models at top of range. Dull, domestic-appliance motoring, for most of the range, although turbo tried to inject sportiness. Assembled in new UK plant, in advance of local manufacture, as Bluebird. Minor changes 1988. End of the Auster line in 1990.
