Mitsubishi Debonair (S22/S26/S27A). 1992–9 (prod. n/a). 4-door sedan, 4-door LWB sedan. F/F, 2972 cm³ petrol, 2972 cm³ LPG (V6 OHC), 3496 cm³ (V6 DOHC). Larger third-generation Debonair, in the class 3 segment, with the bulk (nearly 5 m long) matching that of the Toyota Celsior (F10) though with a short, 2,745 mm wheelbase. Front-wheel drive, sharing a floorpan with the Mitsubishi Diamante (1990–5); configuration allowed for decent rear legroom. Very high-tech features for the time available: first production car with lidar giving warnings about following distance and could use engine braking, an oxygen dispenser (that increased levels for comfort), electronically controlled suspension with automatic damping adjustment, satellite navigation (with small screen), four-wheel steering, four-wheel anti-lock brakes, rear parking camera, self-closing doors, and automatic transmission with traction control. Luxurious fabrics inside. Mid-term changes 1995. Did not sell well, thanks to the collapse of the bubble economy in the early 1990s. Twinned with Hyundai Grandeur (LX).
