Mercury Zephyr. 1978–83 (prod. n/a). 2- and 4-door sedan, 2-door coupé, 5-door wagon. F/R, 140 in³ (I4 OHC), 200 in³ (I6 OHV), 255, 302 in³ (V8 OHV). Corporate twin to Ford Fairmont, replacing Mercury Comet. Four-headlamp grille at launch, unique to this model until 1981 when Fairmont adopted it. Coupé called Z-7. The same comments for Fairmont apply here. V8 deleted for 1983. This model was facelifted and became the Mercury Marquis for 1983–6.
