Mercury Tracer. 1997–9 (prod. n/a). 4-door sedan, 5-door wagon. F/F, 1988 cm³ (I4 OHC). Although previous Tracer was based on the Mazda Familia (BG) platform, replaced in Japan in 1994, 1997 model soldiered on (as with equivalent US Ford Escort) with existing platform. Engine new, as was refreshed interior and exterior, though wagon less changed with most of the vehicle aft of the front wings carried over. Slightly better on refinement compared with predecessor but an average small car in most cases.
