Undeterred by the failure of its multi-brand strategy at home, Geely creates another marque, this time aimed at European markets, with the first announcement in Germany in 2016, emphasizing connectivity and internet retail. Brand created by Geely but discarding its Chinese roots publicly, playing up its Swedishness and noting its incorporation in Göteborg on its website. The first model, the 01, was touted as the most connected car on the market, with telematics hooked up to the internet at all times; and Lynk & Co. also promised innovative retail, lease and sharing arrangements. Fitted between Geely and Volvo, and aimed worldwide, with the 01 previewed in Göteborg and officially launched in Berlin.
