Land Rover kills the Freelander name—which was largely successful only in the UK, and groups its successor with the Discovery family. Price rise, taking base model over £30,000 and into premium territory. Seating for seven, helped with new rear multi-link suspension design. Well equipped, in line with its loftier ambitions, and very capable off-road. Six-speed manuals and nine-speed automatics at launch, with smaller diesel (from 2015) with FWD and carbon dioxide emissions of 119 g/km. PHEV from 2020.
