Lada Granta (ВАЗ-2190). 2011 to date (prod. n/a). 4- and 5-door saloon, 5-door fastback saloon, 5-door estate. F/F, 1597 cm³ (I4 OHC), 1597 cm³ (I4 DOHC). Replacement for both Kalina and Samara series, on Kalina (1118) platform. Despite this, VAZ claimed it was greatly improved over the Kalina, though quality remained suspect. Links to predecessor clear from styling. Outwardly, more formal grille and larger boot (500 ℓ). VAZ planned to export the 2190 throughout western Europe, pricing it as the Continent’s cheapest car. Liftback from 2014. Facelift in 2018, gaining the X-shaped corporate grille and some mechanical updates, whereupon the old Kalina hatchback and estate were absorbed into the Granta range.
