Kia Sorento R (XM). 2009–14 (prod. n/a). 5-door SUV. F/F, F/A, 1995, 2199 cm³ diesel, 2359 cm³ petrol (I4 DOHC), 2656 cm³ LPG, 3341, 3470 cm³ petrol (V6 DOHC). Sorento goes to a monocoque, and gets a lower ride height than its predecessor. Platform shared with Hyundai Santa Fe (CM). Interior slightly low-rent, with harsh plastics, while ride and handling average at best. High level of standard equipment, and particularly successful for Kia despite its limited dynamics. US production commenced with this generation, meeting strong SUV demand there. Mid-term facelift in 2012.
