Iranian development of Samand sedan, originally based around the Peugeot 405. Engines developed by IKCO and FEV of Germany, including a dual-fuel petrol–CNG DOHC unit. Crisper, more modern styling, with ambitious export plans. Euro IV compliant engines. LX as base model; ELX with turbocharger. Dena Plus from 2017. Licensed manufacture by Khazar of Azerbaijan as the LD and SD from 2018, where it soon became the country’s top selling car. Plus Turbo model from 2020, developed without foreign assistance.
