From AutocadeGeely Emgrand GS/Geely Emgrand GSe (吉利帝豪 GS/吉利帝豪 GSe). 2016–21 (prod. n/a). 5-door sedan. F/F, 1299, 1398, 1799 cm³ (I4 DOHC), 1477 cm³ (I3 DOHC), 52, 62 kWh electric. Smart hatchback with Geely’s new design language under Peter Horbury, with some concessions to the crossover market (roof racks, big wheelarches). Two engines at launch, a 1·8 developing 95 kW and a 1·3 turbo developing 98 kW, but neither really geared for performance driving. Long wheelbase, at 2,700 mm, exceeding even that of the Geely Boyue (NL-3) SUV. Driving position not the best. Lack of horizontal travel in gearshift. Steering feel on 1·8 more weighted. Ride not at the top of the class with rear torsion beam, but excellent refinement, with very low noise levels, and safe handling. Quality better overall since Geely bought Volvo, with most interior surfaces feeling acceptable by international standards. The 1·3 was replaced by a 1·4 in 2018, power increased from 133 to 141 PS in 2019. From 2019, 1·5 triple added; 1·8 deleted that year. Electric model called GSe.
