Renamed, facelifted and more powerful Ford Five Hundred, still called by its old name in Middle Eastern export markets. Still has its predecessor’s ungainly shape but the name makes more sense, trading on the goodwill of earlier Ford Tauruses—thanks to a decision by new Ford CEO Alan Mulally. Twinned with Mercury Sable (2008–9), similarly renamed for 2008 model year.
