Originally a coupé version of the Dodge Coronet, and stayed roughly in the same market niche for its first run from 1966 to 1978. A Brazilian model, based on the Dart, appeared in 1971 and ran till 1980. The Charger nameplate then appeared, after it was used for a trim level, on a Dodge Omni-based coupé, before reappearing in the 21st century on a rear-wheel drive sport sedan.
