DS’s flagship saloon for the Chinese market, though observers had their doubts from day one, since DS failed to capture buyers’ imaginations there, and sales were dwindling. PSA insisted DS would stay in China, and showed the 9 in February 2020, for release later in the year. Longer than its EMP2-based sister car, the Peugeot 508 (R83) LWB saloon, with more technological features. Rear indicators integrated into C-pillars, a nod to the Citroën DS. Wheelbase a sizeable 2,895 mm. Innovative, well put-together interior, with quality materials throughout. Night vision, active suspension, adaptive cruise control, massaging front seats. Cushy and comfortable inside. Planned for a European launch at the Salon de Genève 2020, which was ultimately cancelled due to COVID-19. Unusually for a European flagship, all 9s were made in China.
