Originally an upscale, coupé–crossover version of the Citroën C4 called the Citroën DS4, and became the DS 4 when PSA decided to make DS into an independent marque. A DS 4S hatchback model for China, rivalling the likes of the Audi A3, went on sale in 2016. A second-generation global model arrived in 2021.
