Citroën M35
From AutocadeCitroën M35. 1970–1 (prod. 267). 2-door saloon. F/F, 1 × 497·5 cm³ Wankel. The Wankel engine may have been pioneered by NSU, but Citroën was keen on the idea, too, creating the Comotor joint venture. But unlike NSU, which jumped in with both feet, the French company played it cool—and after it developed the single-rotor powered M35, instead of releasing it for general sale, handed out prototype cars to selected customers for further testing. Most of the 267 hydropneumatic-suspended M35s were handed back after testing—but quite a number escaped.
