From AutocadeChevrolet Corsica (L-body). 1987–96 (prod. 1,424,532 to 1994 model year, incl. some Beretta). 4- and 5-door sedan. F/F, 1999, 2196 cm³ (I4 OHV), 2836, 3135 cm³ (V6 OHV). Unrefined but cheap American sedan, and very successful initially for Chevrolet. Also badged as Pontiac Tempest in Canada. The first 1987s were rental fleet specials; regular buyers got theirs from the 1988 model year on. Cramped in the rear, and lacklustre acceleration from the original 2·0. Hatchback added 1989, with a $400 premium to the price. Never really a European sporting sedan despite its aspirations, though LTZ (from 1989) came with tauter suspension and bucket seats. Driver’s airbag from 1991. LTZ deleted for 1991, and a Z52 option package introduced; anti-lock brakes standard from 1992. Daytime running lights from 1994. Sister car to the Chevrolet Beretta coupé.
Marque: Chevrolet | Predecessor: Chevrolet Citation | Successor: Chevrolet Malibu (1997–2003)
