BMW 3200 CS
From AutocadeBMW 3200 CS (Typ 532). 1962–5 (prod. 603 approx.). 2-door coupé, 2-door convertible. F/R, 3168 cm³ (V8 OHV). Very pretty coupé on the 501 platform, but with a body designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro at Bertone, complete with Hofmeister-Knick, introduced at the IAA in 1961. Steel body, unlike predecessor, made by Bertone in Torino, then transported to München. Body-on-frame construction, the last time BMW employed this method. Solid rear axle, also a last for BMW. Electric windows were standard, one of the first German cars with the luxury, though seat belts were not. Poorly marketed and few were sold. Minor facelift during run. A one-off convertible was built for Herbert Quandt.
