Autozam Carol (AA5PA/AA6PA). 1989–95 (prod. n/a). 3-door sedan. F/F, F/A, 547, 657 cm³ (I3 OHC). Carol name revived for Mazda’s new Autozam brand, co-developed with Suzuki, sharing engines and platform with the Alto. Interior and exterior unique to Mazda. No commercial variant. Aimed at female buyers, with the cute, round style finding favour. Smaller F5B OHC engine initially but with the change in kei car standards, the larger one (F6A) was fitted soon after launch. Front and rear bumpers altered for the larger-engined model. Turbocharged F6A also available. Minor changes 1991, when all manual-transmission models became five-speeds.
