Much more modern shape, giving A6 a distinctive look alongside A4 and A8, as well as BMW 5er-Reihe (E39) and Mercedes-Benz E-Klasse (W210). Excellent cabin, raising the standard among German luxury executive cars, though handling average (albeit improved after mid-term changes in 2001) and steering a little vague, geared more for comfort.
