Aston Martin DB5. 1963–5 (prod. 1,024, incl. 65 Vantage, 125 convertible). 2-door saloon, 2-door convertible. F/R, 3995 cm³ (I6 DOHC). The model used in the James Bond blockbuster Goldfinger (and again in Thunderball), becoming one of the most recognizable cars in the world, and propelling the Aston Martin brand to worldwide fame. DB5 was basically an evolved DB4 Vantage, taking slanted front end from DB4 Series V. Four-litre engine standard, five-speed gearbox eventually made standard. Fitted with triple SU carburettors. More luxurious, with electric windows available. Convertible available, but not typically referred to as Volante; 12 shooting brakes made by Radford. Claimed 282 bhp and top speed of 148 mph; Vantage with 314 bhp.
