American Motors Ambassador/AMC Ambassador. 1970–3 (prod. n/a). 2- and 4-door sedan, 5-door wagon, 2-door coupé. F/R, 232, 258 in³ (I6 OHV), 304, 360, 390, 401 in³ (V8 OHV). Rear ends for sedan and coupé redone, now shared with Rebel, otherwise similar to before. Roomy, better-than-average handling, and adequate ride. The 304 and 360 in³ units were new for 1970, 258 in³ from 1971. Minor changes thereafter, including heavier bumpers for 1973 to comply with new US regulations.
