Entry-level Toyota model before Aygo came along, originally designed at its European studio. Yaris was the export name for the Toyota Vitz. However, in 2013, a separate and slightly larger Yaris line began in Asia, based around the Toyota Vios. From the 2017 model year, Toyota sold a Mazda Demio-based four-door sedan as the Yaris, formerly the Scion iA, and for the 2020 model year, the hatchback joined it with this nameplate.
