British Leyland turned Mini into its own marque in 1969 with Mk III, with new ADO20 internal code. Much the same as before, considering Issigonis’s 9X replacement did not enter production. Availability of 848 and 998 cm³ engines, with Clubman and 1275 GT models at top of range (see separate entries). Cheap, good handling small car but noisy and uncomfortable driving position. Many variations continued: South African models had Riley tail; Australian Leyland Mini had Clubman grille; Innocentis different again.
Marque: Mini | Predecessors: Austin Mini Mk II, Morris Mini Mk II | Successor: Mini (Mk IV)
