1974 Mercury Monterey 2-door hardtop.jpg

Mercury Monterey. 1973–4 (prod. 55,184 sold for 1973). 4-door sedan, 2-door coupé, 4-door hardtop sedan, 5-door wagon. F/R, 302, 351, 400, 429, 460 in³ (V8 OHV). Monterey grows for 1973, with much the same formula: lifeless steering and wallowy ride. Exposed headlights, rather than the hidden ones of the flagship Marquis. Despite the lower price, outsold by Marquis, and after 1974, the Monterey was absorbed into the Marquis range.
