Much the same theme as before, with floaty ride and minimal steering feel. Heavier and longer, the latter thanks to US federal rules on bumpers; thirstier thanks to emissions’ controls. Absorbed Monterey line from 1975, when standard Marquis took on the base full-size role. Slight improvements to suspension for 1977 and 1978. Essentially the upmarket counterpart to the Ford LTD (1973–8).
Marque: Mercury | Model: Mercury Marquis | Predecessor: Mercury Marquis (1969–72) | Successor: Mercury Marquis (1979–82)
